Jelmer van der wal
Jelmer van der Wal (1994) studied Social Work at the NHL-Stenden in Leeuwarden. He wrote his bachelor thesis on the effect of a culturally-sensitive approach in the counselling relationship between the social worker and clients with a refugee background. Jelmer first came to know Berlin through exchange projects organised during his studies, including an Erasmus exchange semester at Alice Salomon Hochschule. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Jelmer moved permanently to Berlin in September 2019 to pursue his master’s degree in Intercultural Conflict Management at Alice Salomon Hochschule. Jelmer graduated in autumn 2022. He wrote his master’s thesis on environmental factors and the environment in the context of the 2011 Syrian uprising. Within Clash!, Jelmer is involved in preparing and executing the vocational education projects.
